Epi Buddies was founded by Ria Chaturvedi, a high school student with a deep passion for healthcare and advocacy. While volunteering at a local allergy clinic, Ria met families who were overwhelmed—not just by the emotional toll of managing severe allergies, but by the financial burden of affording essential medication.
One moment stood out: a mother shared that she had to send her child to school without an EpiPen because their insurance didn’t cover it, and she couldn’t afford the $600 out-of-pocket cost. That moment became the spark.
Ria realized that no family should have to choose between safety and cost, especially when 1 in 13 children in the U.S. has a food allergy, and anaphylaxis can become life-threatening in minutes without treatment.
With a heart full of determination and a vision of equity in healthcare, Epi Buddies was born.
Our mission would not be possible without the generous support of our community. We’re proud to partner with Mango Bliss Dessert Bar, a beloved local business that believes in giving back. They’ve opened their space to host Epi Buddies events, raise awareness, and collect donations at their dessert bar locations.
Whether it’s a fundraising night, allergy awareness campaign, or simply a place for families to gather and feel supported—Mango Bliss has been more than a partner; they’ve been family.
Because no child should feel scared or alone.
Our “buddies” are symbols of safety, courage, and community—making allergy education less intimidating and more empowering for young kids and families.
